Tempo ("we", "our", or "us") is a scheduling and communication app designed for bands and musicians. This Privacy Policy explains how we collect, use, and protect your information.
Information We Collect
When you use Tempo, we may collect:
- Account Information: Your name, email address, and profile photo when you sign in with Google
- Phone Number: If you choose to provide it for SMS notifications
- Band Information: Band names, member lists, rehearsal schedules, and gig details you create
- Communications: Messages you send through the app's text blast feature
- Calendar Data: If you connect your Google Calendar, we access your free/busy times (not event details) to help schedule rehearsals
How We Use Your Information
We use your information to:
- Provide and improve the Tempo service
- Send you notifications about rehearsals, gigs, and band communications
- Send SMS messages when you or your band members use the text blast feature
- Help bands coordinate schedules using calendar availability
SMS Communications
Tempo uses SMS to notify band members about rehearsals, gigs, and group messages. You opt in to receive SMS messages by voluntarily providing your phone number in your profile settings within the Tempo app. A disclosure is displayed next to the phone number field explaining that by providing your number, you agree to receive SMS notifications. Providing your phone number is entirely optional — the app works fully without it.
When you provide your phone number:
- You may receive SMS notifications about rehearsals, gigs, and band messages
- Program Name: Tempo Band Notifications
- Message Frequency: Varies based on band activity
- Message and Data Rates: Standard message and data rates may apply
- Opt-Out: Reply STOP to any message to unsubscribe from all SMS messages
- Help: Reply HELP for assistance

You can also opt out by removing your phone number from your profile in the app. We do not sell or share your phone number with third parties for marketing purposes. SMS messages are sent through Twilio, our messaging service provider. Carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages.

Information Sharing
We do not sell your personal information. We may share your information:
- With other members of bands you join (your name, email, and phone if provided)
- With service providers who help us operate Tempo (such as Twilio for SMS)
- If required by law or to protect our rights
Data Security
We use industry-standard security measures to protect your data, including encryption in transit and at rest. Your data is stored securely on Google Firebase infrastructure.
Your Rights
You can:
- Access and update your profile information in the app
- Delete your account by contacting us
- Opt out of SMS communications by replying STOP
- Disconnect your Google Calendar at any time
