SMS Terms & Consent

Tempo is a scheduling and communication app for bands and musicians. We use SMS to help band members stay informed about rehearsals, gigs, and band communications.
How You Opt In to SMS
Tempo sends SMS messages only to users who have explicitly provided their phone number and consented to receive messages. You opt in to receive SMS messages from Tempo in the following ways:
- Adding your phone number in the app: When you sign in to Tempo and enter your phone number in your profile settings, you are consenting to receive SMS notifications about your bands' rehearsals, gigs, and group messages.
- Accepting an SMS invitation: Band leaders may invite new members by sending an SMS invitation through Tempo. If you receive an invitation and reply to opt in, you consent to receive future band-related messages.
You will never receive SMS messages from Tempo unless you have provided your phone number or responded to an invitation. Providing your phone number is entirely optional — the app works without it.
In-App Consent Experience
When users navigate to their profile settings in Tempo and choose to add their phone number, the following disclosure is displayed directly below the phone number input field:

Users may also consent by responding to an SMS invitation sent by a band leader. Users can revoke consent at any time by replying STOP to any message or by removing their phone number from their profile in the app.
Types of Messages
You may receive the following types of SMS messages from Tempo:
- Rehearsal notifications: Reminders about upcoming rehearsals, including time, location, and RSVP requests (e.g., "Rehearsal tomorrow at 7pm at Studio B. Reply YES/NO/MAYBE")
- Gig notifications: Alerts about new or updated gigs (e.g., "New gig: Drawl at The Basement on Mar 15. Reply YES/NO/MAYBE")
- Group messages: Messages sent by band members to the group (e.g., "Hey everyone, practice moved to 8pm tonight! – Andrew (Drawl)")
- Status updates: Notifications when all band members have responded to an event
- Invitations: Invitations to join a band on Tempo (e.g., "You're invited to join Drawl on Tempo! https://tempocal.app")
Message Frequency
Message frequency varies based on your band's activity. Typical users receive a few messages per week. You may receive more messages if you are a member of multiple bands or if your bands are actively scheduling events.

How to Opt Out
You can stop receiving SMS messages from Tempo at any time by:
- Replying STOP to any SMS message from Tempo
- Removing your phone number from your profile in the Tempo app
- Contacting us at support@tempocal.app
After opting out, you will receive a confirmation message and no further SMS messages will be sent. You can opt back in at any time by replying START or by re-adding your phone number in the app.
Privacy
Your phone number and message data are handled in accordance with our Privacy Policy. We do not sell or share your phone number with third parties for marketing purposes. SMS messages are sent through Twilio, our messaging service provider.
Carriers
Carriers are not liable for delayed or undelivered messages. Compatible with all major US carriers.
